Howden Re Legacy and Capital Solutions advise Hampden Risk Partners Syndicate 2689

The Howden Re Legacy Team and Capital Solutions is pleased to announce our role as advisor to Hampden Risk Partners Syndicate 2689 (“Hampden”) in their recent Reinsurance to Close (“RITC”) transaction with RiverStone International (“RiverStone”).

In this transaction, Hampden ceded approximately £62.5M of net reserves related to the 2020-2022 underwriting years to RiverStone International. Under the terms of the transaction, Hampden will achieve full finality and RiverStone will assume claims handling control.

This transaction illustrates Howden Re’s ability to execute Legacy transactions within the Lloyd’s market and help syndicates optimise capital and manage their economic and operational goals.

Howden Re Legacy Role

Howden Re Legacy Team acted as an advisor to Hampden; key roles and responsibilities included:

  • Created marketing materials and data packages shared with potential markets
  • Assisted Hampden with structuring, planning, and negotiating the financial aspects of the RITC including evaluating proposals received by counterparties
  • Provided objective advice and acted as a confidant to Hampden throughout the deal
  • Managed an organized due diligence process
